The Traveler's Lunchbox is holding an interesting "tag-event" of listing 5 things to eat before you die.
Here are my 5 in no particular order:
1. An oyster's po-boy from Chris' in Lafayette, LA
2. Nabil's tabouli and kibbe from Cedar's grocery in Lafayette, LA
3. A char-dog (with everything) from Wiener Circle in Chicago
4. Family style at Salt Lick, outside of Austin, TX
5. BOILED CRAWFISH - mmm-mm mais, ca c'est bon!
Honorable mentions - A pastrami with a knish at Manny's, Hula Hut's fish tacos and fresh salsa, and Bistro 110's whole roasted garlic with warm, crusty french bread.
OK, so now I tag 5 people to write their list on their blog: Mary, Sam, Eric, Sarah and Kayhan Ruud (are you still out there, Mr. Ruud??). My mouth-watering apologies to Kayhan - he produced a delicious list. Consider him unstricken.
Go to town ... while I go grab something to eat...
UPDATE:
OK, so I just remembered... when I first read about making this list, I thought of my #1 item and then completely forgot to include it! However, I think there is a chance Eric would mention it. So, I'll respectfully wait until he makes his posting ... and then I will give this food a whole posting shout-out. By the way, I would LOVE to tag many people, but not everyone has a blog. However, if anyone wants to e-mail their list to me, I'll happily post it to share with others ... or just use the comments section below.
Update 2: I made my list things that others could "easily" try. Therefore, my mom's amazing food failed to make this list. Because then I would have all y'all pounding on her door demanding (CONFIDENTIAL). Once again, I am going to respect Eric's possible selections and not mention Mom's specific food. That too will get its own posting soon.

I always break chain letters. In October of 1987, I broke a chain letter. This was followed by the 1987 Stock Market Crash.
Fair enough.
You didn't have to cross me off of the list. I was only grumpy because I'm in Austin away from my family AND I'm on the other side of town from the Hula Hut.
What's the best bus to get there from 15th and Lavaca?
