On the night before Mary and I celebrated our 7th year of happy marriage, we went and saw one of our favorites - and the musician we've seen play live more than any other person ever: Rhett Miller. It was an interesting opening situation, because they had the normal opener, The Spring Standards. However, they also had a special guest. Rhett Miller gave the stage over to Jakob Dylan and The Wallflowers. It was pretty interesting seeing such a well known band sort of by surprise in a small venue.
Of course the highlight for us was still good ole Rhett. Such a performer.

That weekend, we grabbed Sam and headed to Berkeley where we saw the Avett Brothers play the Greek.

They are so freaking good. All these incredible rock/folk acts are such a joy. The music gives so many opportunities for foot tapping, knee-slapping and screaming at the top of your lungs. Just authentic good fun. I still can't believe we got to see these guys with such a small crowd at Outside Lands 2009. I wonder who will be the Avetts of 2012's OL?
Anyway, just a quick update. I think we are both going to chill on shows for a bit. Building for the two festivals at the end of the summer.
