I'm Cameron. This site is my hub. Over there in the bottom-right corner are some other places I play. I have various 100-word blurbs on life and career on the Hundred Word page. Professionally, I am currently a Snr. Researcher with MailChimp.
I grew up in Cajun country, Louisiana. My dad is a physician, my mom a woman who defies definitions. I had a moment of importance when I failed my 10th grade year of high school, and learned to become fluid rather than static. I figured out school and ended up graduating with honors, I went to LSU, got a 4.0 in pre-medical biochemistry for the first couple of years, until I came to my senses about who I wanted to be. I shopped majors again and landed on English literature. After undergrad, I wandered and found the account planning Master's degree program at UT in Austin.
From there I would start my career in digital located in Dallas. I went to Chicago and served food and beverages (lots and lots of beverages) in the luxury boxes of Wrigley Field for the Chicago Cubs. I ended up back in the industry at JWT. I spent a few months as the director of strategy at a Hispanic marketing agency (even though I don't speak Spanish.) I moved with JWT to San Francisco. Later, I went into direct marketing for Dell.
Then suddenly I was pulled into the world of teaching at an art school. I would become the director of the university's Creative Strategy department. For about a decade, we built a kickass program. I spent hundreds of hours with hundreds of "global millennials." We discussed technology, culture, dreams, behaviors, desires, possibilities, decisions, and more. (I took a couple of pauses to work at a cultural think tank and also up in Alaska.) Then I decided to wander. I drove across the country. Did some freelance strategy work. Enjoying life. Now, I found bliss as a research person at MailChimp. I am based in the Bay Area.
Thanks for being here. Please ping me. I'll ping back.
